I'm still going~ slowly~ yeahh...

For anyone interested, i've got all the translations up to c338 in One Note...

[Is totally unrelated, I  just wanted to put some sort of pic here]

Notes and stuff:

Chapter Title notes:

  • Ride155: I wasn’t sure whether to go with “Souhoku in 2nd place” or “Souhoku’s 2nd place”, but the original is just “Souhoku 2nd place” (総北2位 – Souhoku ni-i)

  • Ride159: “モってる男 待宮” (motteru otoko machimiya). Just pointing out that the “mo” in motteru is katakana while the rest is hiragana. “motteru” is from “motsu” (to hold), so it’s “the man who has (it) machimiya”. No need to specify the object in Japanese XD

  • Ride163: “先頭合流” (sentou gouryuu) is literally “leaders joining/coming together/merging forces” so I only changed it a little bit…

  • P05: 100万 yen is 1,000,000 yen is approx. $8225 the last time I checked (google).

  • P06: Err, I know it says “spare tent” but I really couldn’t think of a more concise way to say it, so I gave up =P “hikae no tento” (控えのテント). Hikae does mean reserve/back up, but in this case, it would be more accurate (and make more sense) to say that it’s the tent where they wait.

Ch156 (this and the next chapter are a couple of my favorite ones…that conversation with Onoda…XD)

  • P02-03: Oh, Midou…I want to give him a hug.

  • P04: For whatever reason, when Ishiyan is holding up the colored zekken that MIdou won, I keep thinking of a parent trying to get their child to stop sulking/throwing a fit XD

  • P14: even Midou can’t say no to that face…XD

  • P13: A note about Machimiya. He’s got a habit of saying エエ (literally, it would be ee, but pronounced more like eh-h) which is like “yep/yeah”. (He also speaks with an accent, which, like Naruko’s or Midousuji’s, gets lost in translation…)

  • P19: Hiroshima Kure Minami Kougyou. Kure is a place in Hiroshima. Minami = south. Kougyou = industry. Hiroshima South Kure Industrial School.

  • P01: I (sort of) get “star” (ホシ – hoshi. Machimiya uses katakana for the word, not hiragana or kanji), but I have no idea what the moon has to do with victory =P

  • P18: GAH! Best. Answer. Ever. Onodaaaaa!! This had me laughing like crazy the first time I read it.

  • P12-13: Oh Midou…XD

  • P07: not sure if this came across in translation…The guy from KumaDai (I always forget his name, bai) says “肥後もっこす” (higo mokkosu—as far as I can tell, “mokkosu” is a form of a verb particular to this guy’s dialect and is uncommon enough that the author needed to put in a note to clarify). According to the author’s note, it has the meaning of “the stubbornness of the people of Higo”. Higo is an old province of Japan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Higo_Province). I wanted something…strange to put in its place (rather than the actual meaning) and since there’s a flower from Higo (http://www.higocamellia.it/page6.html)…well, that’s where “wither” came from…>_>

  • P17: I don’t know where that praying mantis came from, or why it’s suddenly on Machimiya’s hand…
